Snow! :)

This is what snow we had this past week - it had melted continuously and is all gone now. I don't like this snow / no snow thing; I like winter to be winter. But it's beneficial to my heating bill, I have to admit.

Photos are under the cut. This way. :) )

(no subject)

I completely forgot what I wanted to post about because I'm knackered. Work is literally killing me, and I will need to tell my boss next week that if we don't do something I'm gonna burn out within a couple of weeks. I'm sure we'll figure something out, I'll just to survive until then. :)

Today we had big fluffy snowfall for about an hour and it was just beautiful. I took a few photos, I just have to upload them. At least I'll figure out how the Scrapbooks are at LJ and at DW. Right?

Since nothing else comes to mind to say, I'll just thank my Christmas cards. I was reminded to do so by the card I received today from [personal profile] hammil77. Thank you sooooooooooooo much! It gave me a big smile on a day I really neded it. I also would like to thank [personal profile] sagaluthien, [personal profile] poetic_self, and [profile] helineloro for their cards. I hope I didn't leave out anyone, but if I did, I'm really thankful for all of them. Those cards will stay where I can see them for a few more weeks.

I didn't get a beta last time I asked, so I'd like to ask again. Would anyone want to beta for me - in theory for now? But I do have something boiling. ;) Thanks in advance!

Snow day!

We had our first real snow worth talking about today and of course it was a total chaos. Officials always announce how ready they are for snow and they never are. Everybody is just laughing at them as they are explaining on the news how the disaster is not their fault. This year we even have a committee to make up excuses. (Let's not talk about politics anymore.)

Good thing is, we had a snow day at work. I went in anyway, but it was so much easier without people around. I made a serious dent in the piled up stuff I had on my desk.

My paid LJ account expired and I'm not sure I want to expand. I don't know what to do, really; LJ has been my home for so long, but it's becoming more and more unreliable. But I don't want to move either.

My solution is Dreamwidth for now. I imported everything already, and if I don't forget it, I will crosspost from now on. If you have a DW account, find me; I'll gladly "friend" you.

And now, on to replying to comments. Hopefully. If I don't get to yours, I'm sorry. *hugs*

Happy New Year!

I'm back! Aren't we all happy? Because I surely am. =D

I spent the holidays with family which mostly work, actually. And I want to slap my older sister until she wakes up and thinks of someone other than herself.

Other than that, it was good. I saw The Hobbit twice and I really liked it. I like how it's different from LOTR but still the same; and I can hardly wait to see the next part. It's not slashy for me at all - but it took me some time to realize that it's because of The Hobbit and my absence from LJ that I miss my boys so much.

I'm gonna read around LJ this weekend, but if you posted something important -like fic!- please leave me a comment with a link.

So now, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I missed y'all, guys. *hugs*

WARNING: self-pimping to follow.

If you feel like re-reading a Christmas story, or never read Snowed In before, I will bravely recommend it. Here is the link to all chapters, and the story isn't locked.

Other than this, I'm insanely busy. I feel very unprepared for Christmas, too. But I can hardly wait, nonetheless. :)

My Christmas cards turned out awesome, let me tell you. [livejournal.com profile] gypsyluv I still would like to ask you to PM me your current address, I think I lost it. And if you haven't asked for one yet but would like to receive one, let me know.

On that note, [livejournal.com profile] nverland, I got your card, thank you very much. I don't really expect to receive a lot more since I wasn't around when the sign-up posts went up. Oh well... :)

December! So Christmas is around the corner, yeah?

And I feel woefully unprepared. But I'm working on it. :)

I'm also getting better. I'm not healthy yet (who mentioned the hundred days flu? you might be right but how I hate it!) but slowly I'm getting better. The cough is not so bad in general but when I have bad fits, it takes away my voice. But that's about it. I'm careful not to catch a cold or another nasty virus now.

I have received my first Christmas card and the award goes to [livejournal.com profile] silvan_lady. =D Thank you!

I saw that [livejournal.com profile] lotr_advent has taken off! I need to finish getting ready for my turn, yeah? Nice thing to do, I hope you'll like it. Also, if you need to buy more gifts, please consider helping and LJ-friend. [livejournal.com profile] sagaluthien does wonderful handicraft and has a few things up for sale. Check them out here.

And this is about it. Do you hate the new update version/thing? I have no idea why they had to change the old. :/

Turns out I have laryngitis

which is the inflammation of the vocal box. I shouldn't be speaking, but I can't help it at work. :/

I saw two doctors yesterday, the throat specialist who told me about my vocal chords, and a pulmonologist who said I'm completely healthy when it comes to her expertise. Took me a day to accomplish this and got a nice fever in return. But then fever isn't far these days, anyway, it's just lurking right under my skin, even now. Ugh. But I got another set of antibiotics, just took the second pill; and I have more trust in it than the previous set. We'll see, though.

I also caved in and hired a cleaning lady. My place is still awful, and while I will feel completely mortified while she is here, the result is worth it. Of course I could use the money elsewhere but I won't think about that.

Then I will have to seriously start preparing for Christmas. YAY! =D

This reclaiming my life thing didn't really work out

Yet. Just not yet. LOL

It's actually funny, you know? I started to do things every evening after work. Small things, for Christmas, for my apartment - just easy stuff, but things I haven't done for more than a month. Actually I'm into my seventh week of sickness now (I was slightly off with my calculations last time). I still have the cough and the bad voice, but managed to collect some infection in addition. I developed a fever on Thursday afternoon, plus I had to stay late at work which led to a coughing fit that lasted for two hours and gave me splitting headache.

When I saw the doctor, I had insisted to get antibiotics right away, of course. She didn't have a word against it, just asked me basically if I was sure. Sure I was sure. Now the fever is mostly gone, the cough and the bad voice is still here. Funny, yeah?

I don't think I really have anything else to write about, this stupid thing has taken over my life. I'm gonna try to tidy up a bit and maybe clean one room in my extremely dirty apartment. I don't feel like cooking but I will have to. :/

Gosh, I didn't mean to write such a depressing post but by spelling it out it sounds really awful. I'll get better though, I promise.

In the meantime, only 3 people want Christmas cards? That is sure different from how it used to be... (If you just missed my post, it's the one before this.)

Did you have fun trick-or-treating?

I hope you had a fun Halloween - those of you who could. You on the East Coast are always in my thoughts. *hugs*

I missed Halloween this year but it doesn't really come naturally to me anyway. It would've been great to play though... So did you guys do something to celebrate?

I'm still sick, btw. This is my 7th week of it, the first day I missed at work was September 28. Can you imagine? But I decided that between specialists' appointments and doctor's visits, I am reclaiming my life. I'm fed up with not being able to do anything. So... we'll see. But Christmas is nearing, and that always cheers me up.

Also, let me thank you for your get well wishes to my last post; it was a great read when I was really down. You guys are awesome!

[livejournal.com profile] sagaluthien, I got your care package and it's wonderful! I can't tell you how much I appreciated it when I got it last week. (Then we went to visit my mum and I couldn't thank you properly, but now I can. *hugshugshugs*)

So how are you guys? What's happening in the world of LOTR and The Hobbit and the actors? I'm writing again for Christmas, I hope I find my inspirations and the proper pen / keyboard. Wish me luck, eh? =D

So this is me, now. Hugs and kisses to everyone!

Still alive

...but just barely.
I caught this very nasty flu bug almost three weeks ago, and I can't get out of it. The major problem is the cough which just doesn't. let. me. sleep. I don't have the energy to do anything, and I did work last week on an average two hours of sleep a day. That is, if I could sleep at all...

Starting tomorrow, I'm on sick leave again, to the joy of my boss. But I do see the doctor's point; and I know that when I feel sorry for myself over stupid things (like having to go on sick leave), it means that I cannot really think clearly, so I'm sick.

I am sick. God I hate it!

This is a pointless entry, right? But if I don't post it, it will be another week or two before I post something else, and I thought maybe you'd like to know what's happening with me. I made the effort of signing up for the VQ Christmas exchange - have you? - and I'd like to thank Silv for the calendar she sent me. Now that did cheer me up, even in my current sorry state.

I don't have the energy to stick around or read, so please let me know what's happening with you, guys. Take care of yourselves, please. *sends hugs from a distance so as not to infect anyone*

This is silly

...but I can't leave town without telling you about it. It's not that you expected me to post and leave comments every day in these past few weeks, and yet.

So I'm going on a trip with my work, and will be back on Saturday. Be good while I'm away and don't do anything I wouldn't do. ;)

*hugs to all*

PS> Did the option to preview your post really disappear or is it just my computer acting up? I'm bummed, it was a useful tool I liked a lot.

What's better, lurking or staying away?

I'm voting for lurking, so that's what I'm gonna do when I have as little time as last week. What do you think? Because I'm sure as hell that I won't have time to catch up so following you without commenting is a lot better than missing out.

Gosh do I miss you guys.

Work ate my life. I had about 8 hours overtime last week, and when I got home I fell asleep in my armchair. I really hope it will get easier because this is no life. And I will want to spend time with Silv in the very near future. (Shouldn't we start organizing something? It feels like it's way past time for that.)

I really didn't come here to complain or give my excuses but there is really nothing else in my life at the moment. Or yeah, there is one more thing I can think of. If you ever here about Hungarian politics on your news, please pretend that I live in a completely different country that accidentally has the same name. I don't want to call the PM a dickhead and an asshole because that would be an insult to the dickheads and assholes of the world. You thought Bush was bad? He shines in comparison, believe me. (And I don't even have an opinion on him to start with.)

Urgh, politics. No wonder I hardly ever write about it. But please do comment and tell me what's happening with you. Emails I always read. Oh and [livejournal.com profile] kittyrefuge, thanks for the v-gifts!

Ps. If I owe you a post card for the vicarious vacation exchange, please raise your hand. I think I lost count.

Here is how my life is/was these past weeks.

My sister is here visiting. She arrived last Sunday and will be leaving tomorrow. I'm getting tired of having to do everything for her which isn't nice but 1. she's a slob; and 2. she does not do a thing while here.

See, I have nothing against slobs but it's not my style. I try to swallow my tongue but every once in a while something slips out about some mess somewhere and then we are both frustrated. And then there is the fact that I have to take care of her like I would a husband.

Honestly, it's no accident I'm not married. I would have killed the man by now. Or trained him to do some housework. My sister does none of it and I'm exhausted.

Okay, so I'm gonna stop whining but there is another thing that keeps me away from LJ: work. Are we surprised?

My job description changed completely in the beginning of the month. Someone got sick at work (cancer, poor thing), and they gave me her job as I'm the only one who can do that. At least everyone says so but I'm scared to death. It's something I've never done before and while I think all will be fine I cannot be sure just yet.

In a few weeks it will be easier but right now I'm working by butt off, bringing stuff home and everything. Add to this my sister and you'll see why I'm happy just to hit my bed at the end of the day. But I regret not being able to be here...

So sorry, m'dears! My sister is leaving tomorrow though, so let's hope I'll have a little more time. I'm gonna extend my LOTR month too, because I missed a lot, shame on me.

In the mean time, let me know what's happening to you, please. Whether you comment with a novel or a link to a post of yours, I'm interested in all; I just don't think I'll be able to read all 500 posts on my f-page that I missed... :(

Hey, y'all! :)

My disappearing act was a smashing success, yeah?

It was actually a surprise trip, idea by my sister. I didn't go far, only to their house, but I got pampered like whoa. It was nice; I didn't even cook this time. :)

It was good to be in their house and not just with them, actually, since they do have AC. We are having those heat alert days again, with possible new high temperature record tomorrow. The old is 40.2 C; disgusting. My heat rashes are spreading, despite the therapy cream.

Thank you guys, for all the gifts and well-wishes for my birthday. I only had time to run through them, I should be in bed already - so I'm gonna read and savor and thank you properly tomorrow. But let me tell you one thing: I'm extremely thankful to have you as my friends. ♥

I also missed to send out some birthday wishes myself, I know. Since they are late already, I'm gonna send them out tomorrow. I did think of you, I just had no way to express it. *hugs*

And now the Olympic news at the end: we won our third golden medal. Krisztian Berki, male gymnast, pommel horse (or whatever it's called). I might have missed to report on the second one, but I'm gonna assemble a gallery et the end for your entertainment - or boredom. :P

And now good night, sleep better than I'm gonna in this heat... *hugs*

List update

I'm gonna try this listing format, we'll see how it works out for an update.

1. WE WON OUR FIRST GOLD MEDAL AT THE OLYMPICS!!!!! It's Fencing, Men's Sabre, Aron Szilagyi. I'm so proud!

2. We also have a silver and a bronze medal; and we are 6th on the medal chart, tied with Brazil. We will slip back, of course, but it's so nice to see it, even for a short time. :)

3. The water polo team, however, lost to Serbia. They're not out of the race yet, though, but they need a kick. LOL

4. We had a huge scary storm just now, with lightning hitting our building. And if it wasn't our building -it probably wasn't because there's no aftermath- then it's the one next door. I closed my door and turned off the electric kettle, which was completely illogical since I left the tv and the computer on. *gg*

5. I have heat rashes on me, URGH!

6. If you still want to give a try to my game regarding what I was reading, go back and see if you can figure it out. You know you want to! :P (I even gave a hint.) Only one correct guess so far, by [livejournal.com profile] gaily2.

7. I really don't feel like working tomorrow.

8. Josh Lucas is a hunk. Just saying. Although I absolutely disagree with his breaking up habits.

9. I should go to bed but a handball game is coming up. Plus isn't completed yet.

10. Next month will be LOTR month, me and [livejournal.com profile] nverland agreed. You can join in the fun; the more the merrier, you know.

I should stop now because I started rambling, right? =D G'night, m'dears!

Would someone please turn it off?

We've been on extreme heat alert for ten days now. :/ That means we have 35-38 C during tthe day and 25-28C at nights. My place is 29 C and I'm sweating buckets. Eww. I want to be a polar bear.

I'm trying to get into the habit of posting again. We'll see how that works because I've never kept a diary and there isn't much interaction in LJ these days - not much action either - but hopefully that will change. Why it would change in July though, I have no idea. That's why the lets see...
